our second daughter, neishia, was born on january 17, 2012 at 8.42PM. during our last check up at ob/gyn over the weekend, doc told us that i was already having a dilation. i was ready to enter my 39th week but even though i already have 2cm dilation, i haven’t experienced any contractions. so the doc told us to make an appointment to check in at the hospital on tuesday, 17th jan if by then i still don’t have any contractions.

the baby’s due date is actually on 21st january, the same day as hubby’s birthday. but unfortunately, it falls on a chinese new year long weekend. so, to keep it safe, we decided that we will have our cut off by 17th jan and have an induction.

at 12PM, i was on a drip. contractions come and go but not strong enough to have bigger dilation. after 5 hours on a drip, the doc finally showed up to check on me. my dilation only moved 1cm, so he broke my water bag. and right after he did that, the contractions was getting tense that i asked for epidural right away. by 6PM, i got my epidural. by 7PM, i told the nurse that i feel a strong push, so i asked her to check on my dilation. it was already at 9cm. within half an hour i was fully dilated and the doc is nowhere to be found. so the nurse told me to hold and just went with the flow whenever i felt a pushing urge. by 8.30PM, the doc showed up. i was already prepped for 15 minutes, ready for the doc to tell me to push. so as soon as he showed up, i pushed hard. within 5 minutes, the baby was out and placed on my breast.

there she was, our second daughter, alessandra neishiaputri kusumo, or neishia for short.

the whole time i was inside the delivery suite, naia was outside waiting with my mom. it was almost 9 hours of waiting, and she insisted that she didn’t want to go home cuz she’s looking forward to see her little sister. she was so proud and happy as neishia and me was out from the delivery suite and courted to our room. this was also marked a milestone for naia, as this will be the first time she would sleep apart from me while i’m at the hospital.

naia is sooo in love with her new little sister that she keeps kissing her all the time.
