Creamy Salmon Recipes for Babies

I haven’t been posting any recipes for awhile now. Was thinking of posting “Mie Ayam Jamur” recipe, but somehow I keep delaying on it. It will come soon, please be patient.

In the meantime, I want to share my recent recipe for Neishia. She is now 7 months old and is very good at eating solids. So good that she has eaten 3 times a day, with different menus everyday. From fruits to vegetables, chicken, beef, pumpkins, butternut squash, peas, string beans, potatoes, sweet potatoes, you name it. Even my new maid decided to become creative and mix papaya with pumpkins, she still ate the whole bowl.. clean! She loves to eat.. that much!

I know I should’ve introduced her with fish a few weeks back, when she has turned 7 months old. Unfortunately, in between our travel schedules, work and everything else, I didn’t manage to fix the meal in the kitchen. I couldn’t ask my maid to prepare it since I don’t think she’d do it right. So, last weekend, I finally managed to get creative in the kitchen and created these yummy salmon recipes for Neishia. I prepare the ingredients together, but came out with 2 different recipes.

Baked Orange Salmon Fillet
Ingredients:
250gr Salmon Fillet
1 piece of orange, juiced

Directions:
1. Preheat 200 degree oven
2. Cut the salmon fillet in cubes, placed in a bowl
3. Juice 1 piece of orange. Mix with the salmon fillet in the bowl, set aside for 5 minutes.
4. After 5 minutes, cover bowl with aluminum foil, punch a few holes on top so that it will be able to release some steam
5. Pop inside the oven, bake for 20 minutes. Another option is to steam the salmon fillet in the steamer.

Creamy Salmon Mashed Potatoes with Cheese
Ingredients:
Orange Salmon Fillet
1/4 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
2 tbsp unsalted butter
1/2 cup cauliflower florets
1 cup cut-up potato (from 1 big potato or 2 small/medium sized potatoes)
2 tbsp milk (I use fresh milk)

Directions:
1. Cut the pototoes in cubes, placed in a cup/bowl. Cut the cauliflower florets, placed in a cup/bowl.
2. Put them in the steamer for about 15 minutes. I put them all together in a bowl so that you can use the liquid for later use.
3. After 15 minutes, take out the bowls out from the steamer.
4. Place the milk and butter with the potatoes, you can start mash them together.
5. Since Neishia is still eating the smooth consistency food, I put all ingredients in a tall blender bowl, mixing in half of the Orange Salmon fillet that was baked earlier, then blend them using the hand blender until it reaches smooth & creamy consistency. For older babies, you can just use a masher to mix them.
6. Place them in a bowl or baby cubes for storing. Freeze.

Creamy Puree Salmon with Cauliflower & Tofu
Ingredients:
1/4 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup silken tofu (tahu sutra)
1/2 cup cauliflower florets
2tbsp chicken broth, optional. Or you can use fresh milk.

Directions:
1. Cut the cauliflower florets, placed in a cup/bowl.
2. Put together the silken tofu in a bowl, add in the chicken broth or fresh milk.
3. Put them in the steamer for about 15 minutes.
4. After 15 minutes, take out the bowls out from the steamer.
5. Place the cauliflowers, tofu and the rest of the ingredients in the tall blender bowl. Don’t forget to add in the baked orange salmon fillet. Mix them all with hand blender until you reach smooth consistency.
6. Place them in a bowl or baby cubes for storing. Freeze.

Easy peasy. I get about 7-10 servings of 2 different recipes. Try them.. hopefully your little on will enjoy it as much as Neishia does!

iya ini salmonnya direndem dulu pake jeruk. sebenernya bisa pake jeruk nipis tapi takut keaseman, jd pake orange aja. any kind of orange is okay. jadinya bagu juga krn orange kan kaya ama vit C & kalsium juga.

  3. Dhita says:
